Music plays even at minimum volume

Hey guys,

I have a small issue with my volume. When I control the volume using the sound icon in the system tray (aka via my keyboard's volume control buttons), it works fine except when I bring the volume all the way down. Sound still plays at zero volume, and it only stops playing when I actually mute it. Is this normal?

I would like it to NOT play sound when the volume is all the way down, is there some simple solution to this problem?

I'm currently running win7 professional

your post is not quite clear if you adjust the volume with "only" the task bar control does it function normally or is the problem only with the keyboard control what type of keyboard are we dealing with also what sound controller

ah sorry. what i meant to say is this:

when my system tray volume is zero, i can still hear sounds playing in my speakers. I have to right click the volume and MUTE it to turn off sound.

Is there a fix for this?

I would start with making sure you have the correct sound card drivers for your sound controller download them form the makers website
