Solved Must sign back into Yahoo Mail every time

My Dad had this problem after ATT forced all subscribers into a new version of ATT Yahoo mail. Suddenly on both his PC's he had to sign back into Yahoo mail every time he opened his browser, even though it was set to only prompt every two weeks. The Save Password prompt was missing from the sign-in box.

Extensive search only found issues with auto-cookie-removal and mentioned settings.

ATT Tech Support says the issue is known to them and being worked on, but no solution has yet been found.

The problem was eventually traced to the desktop shortcut which had lost its ability to reopen securely signed-in Yahoo Mail but only prompts for Sign In. Replace the desktop icon by rightclicking a blank area of Inbox to Create Shortcut or Send to Desktop.

Let's hope ATT support finds this thread.

that's weird because I was just having some problems with yahoo weather and changing my location without my knowledge I don't know what it is, but I'm sure yahoo will figure it out

Do you have Yahoo Mail to open with SSL? If so, that will cause you to need to log in every time. To find out, from inside Yahoo Mail, click on the little gear in the upper right corner, click on Mail Options, then, toward the bottom of the page, you should find an option to turn on SSL. If checked, try unchecking it.

Which browser ?
I haven't seen any issues using ie10.

I think it is ATT specifically, I haven't had the problem on IE10 either.

I had the same problem yesterday. I have Century Link ..., so it may not be just ATT ISP.

Deleting the bad shortcut and putting a new one on the desktop, worked for me.

Yes add me to the group.
After signing into my computer and clicking on Yahoo I then to to mail and that's where the problem comes in.
It asked me for my password every time I log in to yahoo.
Will try Jacee approach and delete the shortcut and place another one in its place.

Make sure the new shortcut is made from your Inbox after being signed in. You may need to sign out and sign back without using your Yahoo shortcut so that you get the option to check to Keep Me Signed In. The shortcut has lost that attribute.

If that doesn't hold sign-in then reset IE to Defaults in Internet Options>Advanced. Close IE, open it via All Programs, type Yahoo.com into URL box, sign into Mail.

In addition to Yahoo ID and password boxes, you should now have the box to tick to Keep Me Signed In which must be checked. Then from a blank area of Inbox rightclick to Create Desktop Shortcut.

I have @sbcglobal.net through AT&T.
It just started doing this a couple of days a go.
Google Chrome works just fine.
Two separate accounts as one for private items and Chrome is for everything else.
