My Motherboard reads the RAM lower than the speed it is suppose to go, when I have installed G-Skill Sniper 8GB 2x4GB 1600 Mhz. But when I manually choose it too 1600Mhz it wont boot. Also my EVGA GTX 660 SC 2GB's FPS has been dropping from like 100 - 30 in some Source games like GMOD. I have never overclocked my computer since my CPU fan can't handle the heat.

I have similar issues with an AMD rig I have (I would get BSOD), I don't think certain AMD CPU's like ram at that speed, in the end I just set it to 1333 and was done with it.

I am useless with AMD though, hopefully some AMD pro's will come on and tell you what you need to do.

This must be a different system than what's inm your system spec's. I assume you have some falvor of AMD cpu for the AM3 or 3+ socket. These cpu's have the memory controller embedded in the cpu, not the mobo. There is a limit on mem speed depending on amount of installed memory.

I have 16megs of 1866 on a 990fxa/8350. Best speed I can get 1400mgz, If I take it down to 8 megs I can get the rated 1866. You can google this and find several articles on it.

It's more of a QVL issue I would think

I have the same exact board my ram runs as rated and is overclocked is that ram on the QVL that could tell you a little something not all ram works even though it's supposed to be universal

I forget to ask what slots are occupied?

Slot 1 and Slot 3, Also I forgot to say that this is a R2.0 board. It is suppose to support RAM speed of 1600.
SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 - Motherboards - ASUS Also my Video Card is getting low FPS for no reason. Plus I am having BSOD like what Paul said.

Sounds like it's more of a bad ram then the motherboard I have the R2.0 and have no issues unless your ram is set up wrong in the bios and the timings are way off

if it is giving you BSODS I would try another kit or try a kit made by someone else

I have had no issues with my asus board in those area's as far as the video card goes that could be fixed by a driver

Or the ram is simply bringing the whole performance down

Well I have been getting BSOD on memory issues, and changing the RAM speed in Bios would cause startup problems
.
