My backup hdd shows System should not be, cant do backup

SO i was trying to do a system image backup just a bit ago and it would not let me save it on the D: Backup hdd which is a WD Caviar black 1Tb. So I created a file in the D drive and named it back up and made share as a network folder. Now backup will see it in network option. So I set it and then saw the summary say that both C and D drive will be included in the image backup. I am like huH? I do not understand why it wants to include the D and I have no option to uncheck that.

A month ago I created a system image on D drive no problem, then a couple days later, the primary drive C crashed so I got a new one and restored on it no problem. Then I was having a Issue with D drive not showing up and got it to show up somehow but I forgot what exactly I did.

D drive has never had any OS installed on it, its just purely data drive where I save pictures, documents, files, and such.

So How do i remove the System off the D drive?

Using DiskPart, mark D as inactive.

Run DiskPart from an elevated command prompt.

Type diskpart to run diskpart

Type /? to list all of the optiions

Type list disk to list your disks

type select disk N where N is the number of the your D disk

type detail disk to make sure you got the correct disk

type inactive to mark the disk as inactive.

type exit to exit diskpart

type exit to exit the command shell

I did what you explained, and then when i typed in inactive, it said there is no partition selected.

when i do detail disk, it shows D drive is backup, NTFS, Partition, 931 GB, healthy, System.

is there another command I need to do?

select the first partiton assigned to the D disk.
