So I have a ThinkPad x201 (not tablet) I think it's from 2009. Anyways, The battery information that the Lenovo software is showing clearly states it does not hold charge for much long. And, I obviously notice that it discharges in a matter of minutes. Should I buy a used OEM replacement, a 3rd-party replacement or can anyone direct me where I may get a replacement that is inexpensive. But, if 3rd-party replacements are not good in your experience let me know!

Thanks!:D

I have an ultrabase for my system if that changes anything.

Hi queue -

Welcome to Windows 7 Forums!

I noticed your post and I wanted to suggest contacting Lenovo for a new battery regarding the ThinkPad x201.
If not available, they can direct you to the best channel for a quality replacement.

Not all batteries are created equal and might even pose a fire hazard, IMO. Furthermore, never buy a used battery.

Here is their USA webpage for Batteries and Chargers...

Good luck! :)

Thank you for the warm welcoming. I appreciate your insight on batteries. It is always a better option to get a battery from a known source like the original manufacturer as you suggest.

Always buy a brand new battery. Life expectancy of batteries shorten over-time even if it is sealed and not used yet.

The Lenove battery has served you well for a long time. A Lenove battery suggested by Lenove is what I would buy.
