My comp, house, and globe are not there to set up network.

My internet has an X in it and the network and sharing does not have the comp, house, and globe. In place of this is "The dependency service or group failed to start". No connection available is displayed when I hover over the task bar icon.
Please help.

Welcome to the forum. Are you using wifi or cable? Open a cmd prompt type
ipconfig /all

You need to elaborate on your problem. I'm going to try to guess a possible scenario.

Your computer doesn't have any connectivity at all. So you are not posting from there. When you click on the network icon you don't see any network available. And you don't see any network adapter in the Network Conection folder. You are a home user who would connect directly to the internet through your isp provider.

If your windows installation is new, then you most likely do not have the proper driver for your network adapter, or any driver at all. If this is your case then you just need to install the proper driver for your network card model.

If your installation is not new, and this happened overnight, then it's complicated. You will need to do a lot of things, review the program and settings you recently installed or modify. Check the properties of your network adapter->ipv4 settings, review the host file, review all services related to the network, check for posible network interference from some rouge program you have running, among other things.

But, as samuria says: ipconfig /all is a good start.

Yes this did happen over night. Not a new install. The message in network and sharing is; the dependency service or group has failed to start. I have uninstalled the driver and checked for changes and the driver came back
. it says it has the latest driver. when I go to dns client services it is stopped, when I start it it says error 1075 dependency service does not exist or is marked for deletion. DNS, dhcp doth set to auto. It is an on board adapter, the lights are functioning,and I use a Motorola 7315. There are 4 ports total all others work just fine wifi and all. I changed cables, channels, and starting both together simple stuff done. I put my old drive in same win 7 pro everything works fine, I had to set the dns from router info login page. I'm stumped it doesn't even see an adapter. I wish I could c n p the sys partition from the old drive.

It says the instructions are for Win 10 but I don't see anything there that wouldn't work in Win 7.

We need all of it. Copy/paste or type this into your command prompt.

ipconfig /all > %userprofile%\Desktop\ipconfig.txt

That will create a text file on your desktop. Upload it into your reply. Also can you access the internet at all from that computer or others?

Hi Wither 2.
I have gone through these steps before joining this forum, but I thought I would give it anther try and still no fix. I get a lot of 1075 errors for step 3 and 4 but there set to auto I just could not start them. #2 reported the specified account name is already a member of the group. Adding the administrators network service for local group completed successfully.

That is all of it, I used your text and it displayed the same thing. The comp. doesn't recognize the on bd adapter or the router. That comp has no connection, but there are 2 tv's, another comp using Ethernet cables and all wifi works fine. my desk top is not. I have a Motorola MG 7315 4x8 with wifi. The win 10 lap top I'm using to correspond here is wifi.

I just want to put this out there. As I mentioned in an earlier post, my old original drive worked fine when I plugged it in everything worked fine. when I shut it down 50 updates started to download I thought that was strange sense win 7 is no longer supported. Well I waited for the updates to finish and install and it shut down. The next morning I started it up and my network was out. I went to the latest updates and found 1 that was net framework something and decided to delete it. Restarted and the network was back. The others were for office and nothing to do with the net. I thought this was piculiar.

Just one more thing. I check my updates on this drive and there were no net frameworks current.

On this system, the dependency for the DNS Client Service is NetIO Legacy TDI Support Driver. I don't how to access that. According to the link below, the latter also needs the TCP/IP Protocol Driver. I don't know if running SFC would fix this issue but the link provides a fix for this problem-

Hi all
I don't know if there is a connection, but my fire wall is not functional and it is off. I just left an anti virus co. and I'm going with another soon. My Intel (R) 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection Has a lot of setting check boxes I never mess with them but I hope they are correct.

Would you open a Command Prompt with Administrator Rights and run

SFC /Scannow

Does it find/fix any problems? If so, reboot and run it again.
