My Computer doesnt see DVD in drive but can still acces

Hi, im having an odd problem im new to windows 7 and i just noticed that DVDs i have burned do not show up in My computer it just looks as if the drive is empty and if i click on it, it just ejects the tray but if i try to play the DVD via say VLC it plays fine, any ideas what it could be?
