my computer has 2gb of ram but it says i can only use 1.74

so i noticed this problem in my laptop a long time ago, but its only bothering me now due to the amount of games that tend to run better with it, any way i can make it use all ram?

The rest is system reserved. You'll never be able to use all the RAM installed because of that.

Depending on your machine you'll probably have to add more ram if you want/need more.

In this situation I suspect the RAM is being used by the video system. This is common with laptops. As you are running Windows 7 starter you will not be able to upgrade RAM. With this OS 2 GB is the limit.
