My little old toshiba NB 305 is really messed up. It can boot up and open a command prompt, but that's about it. I have no idea where to begin in fixing it. Maybe I should reinstall windows? How would I do that? Or is there something else I could do?

You could reinstall Windows or try a repair install. I'm thinking you could access the Windows 7 disk via command prompt. So something like,

Code:
cd /d D:\
then type at the D prompt:

Code:
setup.exe
or

Code:
setup64.exe
In this code: cd /d D:\ the D is D drive so usually that's your optical drive. If the drive letter is different, or you want to navigate to a USB device you'll need to use that drive letter. If you don't know it start from D and move to E or F, G, etc. Would depend on how many drives/devices you have installed.

For either a reinstall, or a repair install:

You will need windows installation media.

You will also need your windows license.

If need them, just ask.

Is this the exact model? There are several that begin with nb 305. Always useful to give the complete model number when posting questions.

I tried using code: cd /d D:\, and tried every letter after d, replacing D. All of them gave me: the system cannot find the drive specified. Also, I think the exact model is NB305-N410BL
