My default boot is set to restore and I can't boot Windows

I recently got a desktop computer from my brother. It hag some issues and I wanted to do a complete restore.

I set "system restore" to default boot through "msconfig"
I did a complete restore through "Microsoft genuine software" and when it restarted it booted back into the same system restore.

Safe mode does not work and I do not have an operating system cd to boot from.

Is there any way to get it to boot back to Windows?

What do you mean you did it through msconfig ? Why didn`t you just do a System Restore the normal way, using the system restore program in windows.

It didn't have a point early enough to remove what they had on it, and I was more looking for a complete restore.

There is no such complete restore. There are restore points.
I think you're looking for a Factory Restore where it cleans all HDD and reinstall windows as it was when came brand new.
Is that what you want?
OEM computers normally has a Factory Restore Partition. If it hasn't been deleted:
- You can build the Factory Restore disks.
- You can launch Factory Restore from windows. Look under Dell menus to find the link.
- You can launch Factory Restore from BIOS.

Just do a clean install, start fresh.

Get your network drivers from Dell first, put them on a flash drive.

Clean Install Windows 7

With that you can create an install DVD or USB stick.

Thank you, that is what I was looking for (Microsoft told me to ask dell, the tower was a refurb so dell told new to buy new).
The "restore" program I used turned out to be fake.
It took me a few days to get that boot going as I do not have an adequate setup.

Unfortunately the tower was originally installed with 7 pro so my product key doesn't work for that.

This is an official M$ site Microsoft Windows and Office ISO Download Tool
Download the tool and run it.
Choose the Expert View.
Select Edition = Win 7 Pro SP1 COEM
Download the Iso

Make a DVD (or use Rufus to built a USB flash disk)
Install it using your COA license Key from the Dell computer stick.
