My Documents changed to Documents

I don't know if this is related to a Windows Update, but I've searched and I can't see that anyone else has reported this.

A couple of weeks ago, I turned on my PC (windows 7) and found that My Documents had been renamed Documents. I always accessed this folder under my User (like My Music, My Videos, etc.). Before this happened, from the Library, I had Documents and under this, My Documents and Public Documents so no, I am not getting it confused with the Documents library. Now under the Documents library, I have Documents and Public Documents.

I didn't rename it. I liked having My Documents because I could always easily see where I was saving documents. Having the Documents library always confused me because when I first got this PC a couple of years ago, I accidentally saved into the Documents library (since My Document had just come back, I wasn't used to it) and from there, I could not find my files. I never stopped to figure this out - I just made sure I saved into My Documents from then on.

So, does anyone have any idea as to how this got renamed? Can I rename it back without repercussions?

Hello Dreemsnake,

You could use OPTION THREE in the tutorial below to restore the default location of your C:\Users\(user-name)\My Documents folder to see if that will fix it for you. If you right click on the now "Documents" folder and click on Properties, and it doesn't have a "Location" tab, then it's most likely not set to it's default location.
