i downloaded the official 7100 from MS 6 hours ago and found out that my video card driver didn't download via microsoft update as usual. now i'm no pro at driver downloads by any means (usually Mcrosoft Update does it for me!) but i was trying to download it via the manufacturaer website and i got this error message

Error messagesDriver Install: the specified driver package was not installed for matching devices

as a side note i tried this on both the MS 7100 and the torrent 7100.
and yes the torrent hashes match MS one's. and funny thing is it was working no problem before i d/l the MS one.
and yes i do clean installs.
thanks for any help you guys can provide, because right now i'm stuck with the basic theme and my eyes are bleeding

edit: solved via http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/789-windows-7-driver-solution.html

thanks for the try though

Download the latest catalyst driver for your card and unpack it by running it normally. When it asks you to do express or cutom install, just close the installer app. Open device manager and install it manually by pointing to the .inf in C:\ATI\blah blah wherever it is in here.

When doing this from the device manager, select the option to find drivers yourself as opposed to having windows find them for you.

You might have to add your card's string to the .inf in 2 places also, but doubtful.

ok, i went to ati > support (only choice) > packages > drivers. at that point it gives me two options display and WDM. i am a noob when it comes to this. i pointed the 'update drivers' to the display option and then LH_INF folder. is this the right folder?
and btw when i pointed it there a window came up saying windows has already found the most recent driver. a standard one :(

The setup.exe/install.exe would install the driver for you. Setup.exe/install.exe should have came with what you just downloaded.
