I built a new system myself with the following components:

i7 2600k @ 4.5ghz
asus p8p67 deluxe
gskill ripjawsx 16gb 2133mhz @ 2200mhz
asus eah4870 1gb
crucial m4 64gb
wd caviar black 500gb

everything has been running smoothly for approximately 6 months, i have been very pleased with how stable everything is. I have run many stability tests, including prime95 on each of the 3 modes and no errors. In addition, i often am rendering videos or music, and game usually every dya, as i say, perfectly stable. I am aware i have hefty overclocks on both the ram, and cpu, but it has served me perfectly for 6 months so im not sure this is the problem.

Untiil today, i had chrome, itunes, and fsx open and it just happened out of the blue. Id appreciate it if you could look at the dump file im uploading.

EDIT: ok basically i looked where the dump files should be, and its just an empty folder? why is this?

"STOP 0x0000001E" Error Message During Windows Setup

This behavior can occur if you restart your computer during or after the Windows Setup process, and if any of the following conditions are true:
  • There is insufficient disk space on the drive on which you installed Windows.
  • There is an outdated or incompatible third-party driver (or drivers) installed on your computer -- for example a faulty video driver.
  • There are system BIOS incompatibilities
if you go to the site thay have info on how to fix it.

interesting cheers.

well i have the latest bios, i didnt restart windows during the install, and it didnt list a particular driver in the bsod.

does this mean it has to be insufficient disk space?

as you may have guessed i have the ssd as boot and program drive and the 500gb wd for big programs and storage.

however i vastly underestimated how much i would use on the ssd drive, and i only have 4gb left.

could this have caused the bsod? i wasnt going to put any more programs on the ssd, so i planned for it to stay at 4-5gb free well.. forever.

also does this mean it isnt a hardware issue? like instability in the oc? i really cba to go and fiddle with voltages i was doing that for like a week solid when i set it up

overclocking can have alot to do with it. try resetting the bios setting and see if you still get the bsod.

To get a dmp file in your minidumps folder, follow http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/174459-dump-files-configure-windows-create-bsod.html

Do you have a file in Windows called MEMORY.DMP? It would be too big to upload here, but it may be there. Other reasons why minidumps may not be created: pagefile on another drive (this is most likely since you have an HDD for large programs and user data), pagefile not big enough, minidump folder does not have proper permissions set, and some dumps are due to memory problems and may not be created as a result.

i followed the instructions in your link, and both boxes were ticked

MEMORY.DMP, is there. but it is 700mb.

i dont see why any settings such as the page file would be wrong, it is just a normal windows install just like all the previous times i have installed it and i have been able to find the dumps before

How big is your pagefile? Have you checked the other drives to make sure no pagefiles exist on them?

To check your pagefile: Start Menu->Right Click My Computer->Properties->Advanced System Settings->Under Performance, Settings...->Advanced->Under Virtual Memory, Change...

How many drives are listed in the white box? What is the total paging file size for all drives (currently allocated)?

Your page file should be as big as your RAM plus 1 MB, so it sounds right. Odd that you are not getting any minidumps... Can you upload MEMORY.dmp to a file sharing host like rapidshare or megauploads? We could take a look at it that way.

No problem. Glad to hear your system has been stable. And yes, I know how SSD drives are at present. The Intel drives are supposed to be more reliable; some of the Gurus on here swear by them, and I do not think I have seen anyone with an issue due to those. OCZ seems to have the most issues. Get a lot of blue screen related crashes from users with those, and I have read that they are still trying to clean that up and provide better support for them. Don't know about Crucial. Corsair and Intel seem to have the best reviews from what I have read.
