Happy days everyone. I am bit or mor drunk than I should be. Today was Linnoituksen Yö in Lappeenranta and I had to celebrate and now when I got home I had to tell you guys how mucvh fun I had todsy ! It is almost 4 am and still celebrating !!!!!!!!!!!(d)(d)

it is some kinf of party in Lappeenranta and there is alot of bands all that kind of things.. I don't actually know the histortyu of this thingy but still I had to just celebrate..

is this a Finnish thing by any chance? i only ask because I have some very good Finnish friends and it looks a bit like the kind of thing they write! Incidentally i have also had a skinful as I write this (although I still like Finnish people sober!)

Yes it is a finnish thiing and to be correct it is thing in city called Lappeenraanta in Finland! it is not celevrated in elsewhere in Finland only in Lappeenrata...

and I am sorry for posting this kind of things but I don't know,... usually I am very nice and I do not drink very much....

I may be wrong here, but trying to put two an two together it sounds like the Finns celebrate this as an independence day from the Russians.
Similiar to us Yanks celebrating our independence from England; with food, fireworks, and drink.

After reviewing some of the other links I had on the subject I would have to modify my earlier statement by saying it is an arts, crafts, and music festival.

Early in August there is a popular festival called "Linnoituksen yö" (Engl. The Night of the Fortress) in the harbour and fortress area.
