My Games have low fps in Win7 x64 in comparison to Win XP x64

I have a dual boot of these two OS and my rig is: intel core 2 duo 2.93ghz, ram 4gb DDR-2 , Intel DG41RQ motherboard, XFX ati Radeon 4670... with this rig i can play fifa 11 at my XP with max setting at 60fps no lagging, perfect. But when i play it in win7 with same settings, the fps goes down to 30~35... why is that? I also switched my power setting to gaming mode but still nothing... isn't win7 suppose to increase gaming performance? same when i play Assassin's creed brotherhood in xp max setting 30fps but in win7 max setting 15~20! all my drivers are updated and i just can't find out what the heck is wrong...any help???

Windows 7 is directx10-11 whereas windows XP is directx9, the performance difference is justified, just google "directx9 vs directx10 performance" and you'll see a big difference in the comparison.

"Playing through five very similar minutes of the game with FRAPS and timing the frames per second, we shot up a batch of splicers in DX10 and then in DX9, with all other settings being equal (high quality defaults at 1680×1050). In DirectX 10, FRAPS showed an average of 61.658 fps; in DirectX 9, the average was 80.300 fps."

thanks for your reply...so directX 9 will give me better fps?if so then is there a way to force a game such as assassin's creed brotherhood or witcher to run in directx 9?

Right-click game shortcut, Properties, Target. After the quote's end (for the install location), place in -dx9 (make sure to leave a space between.)
