Sooooo all I did was unplug the mouse, keybaoard, monitor, and speakers..then plugged in my gaming keyboards and mouse and now I get the message.....reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key.....can anyone help me?? I'm home sick and just wanted to pass some time playing video games on my girlfriends computer. she's not going to be happy with me if I don't figure this out. Thanks everyone!

Get into the bios & check the boot order. Be careful if you have not done it before. Press Del at bootup. Come back if you need more help.

i am going to ease your mind what you have is an extreme coincidence! The action of unplugging the devices while the computer is off or on will have no ill effect.

Im going to hazard a guess, that while you were moving it around something has come loose, so your best bet is to take off the side panel, and check the cables to the hard drive and then trace them back to the motherboard and check they are plugged in securely.

Then boot the computer, if it boots then go have a beer, or it doesnt, restart and then enter the bios, f1, f2 or delete are common command but it will say somewhere on the boot screen.

once in the bios find the boot order and see if there is a HDD recognised, if it is move it to the top of the boot list and retry. that should sort things.

if it doesnt push the computer on the floor, and sit the dog on top of it.. then have a beer

Can you boot from some installation dvd?
I think it can't boot from harddisk because .... cable is damaged or loose.

Start from win7 recovery dvd or win7 installation dvd and "repair my computer". Then enter command prompt and see if C-drive is accessible.

well choose boot drive priority and then move the HDD (if it shows up) up the list to the top using the arrow keys.

forgot how basic some bios's are haha, Asus ones you can use a mouse and drag and drop on newer boards lol

in the first one move the SATA drive to the top.

right to ease your pain further, judging by its components.. 1) floppy drive 2) ide drive 3) Cd drive.. its a prity old computer.. so something could have just taken an age related dump

well personally i always stick my primary HDD at the top, no need to spool up the CD drive on every boot if you dont need to boot from a CD, i just change it if and when i need to boot from a CD/DVD.

There isnt a "correct" boot order as such

lol like i said initially the act of unplugging plug in and play devises can not and will not cause harm

its a very old computer with old components, it could just let go, maybe it has.

id just turn it off and leave it as it is, and then when said gf comes home and tries to use it, you can try all the things weve suggested in front of her and youd look like quite the intellectual hero

your a bit screwed if she replies "yeah it does it all the time just give it a kick and its fine"
