Solved My HDTV Used As Monitor Problem

I have tried to use my spare 24inch HDTV as a monitor anbd it does not work what so ever.

I have coonected to my pc via HDMI and VGa with no success. It comes up with no Signal.

Here it is, well it is one mumber above, but i would imagine there would not be that much difference.

I also have the same problem with my 32inch LG HDTV.

Funnily Enough, i have one on its way. I shall wait until it arrives and give it a shot m8.

I too have the same problem with a samsung 42".

I have discovered that SOME hdmi tv's will not detect a vga cable due to a software error within the tv

on vga lead there is a fix im not going to post the full details due to not wanting the blame for your tv going poof but

connect vga to the tv and connect to laptop or pc no signal is detected

answer is to unplug it from the pc short 2 pins together on the vga lead (this will tell the tv there is a signal ) plug cable back in to pc and whola signal detected and working (i tested this and it worked)

now for hdmi lead i have no clue.

Use a paper clip

connect the vga to the tv turn the tv on then the vga is powered up now for the tricky part with a papper clip touch 2 pins on the other end of the vga this in turn will tell the tv there is a pc on the other end off the cable.

i'm not going to post the pin numbers due to blowing your tv up plus the numbers MAY be different for other makes than mine but the info is on google and i must stress use it at your own risk

NO. But you do have to tell your TV which input is being used. Example, if your TV has 3 HDMI inputs and you plug into HDMI port number 2, then thru the TV menu you would select HDMI #2

The best way to connect is thru HDMI, then DVI, depending on what connector your graphics card has. If you connect thru VGA your resolution on the TV may be limited.

I have now just got my original monitor connected, i have my 32 inch LG 1080p HDTV connected to my HDMI slot on my GEFORCE PALIT GTX 460 1GB and the LG is on the right channel and it is still not showing my pc, my pc has detected the LG though.

The instruction manual for my TV states that (in the US) you should set the PC refresh rate to 60Hz before connecting to the TV.

Also have you checked the troubleshooting section of your manual?

Was to do with Resolution lol, or it was a better cable.

Good news, enjoy! films look excellent as do games,i use 32" samsung as monitor, be careful of ghosting or "screenburn"
