Solved My Laptop display keeps turning off in 1 min!

Hi everyone,

I just joined this forum because I am having trouble with my laptop's display turning off.
I have window 7 home premium 64 bit, HP dv7 laptop.

My display turns off every 1 minute for some reason.. which is making me
I tried changing my power option to high performance, recommended, power saver and I even change all the plan settings "Turn off display" NEVER, even reset all power options to default and still turning off in 1 min...

my display goes off but not completely black, you can see some light + black.

Check your screensaver settings in Personalization, some themes set the blank screensaver active at one minute, four or more is best.

Thank you DMHolt57! worked like a charm, had screen saver on "Blank" at 1 minute without realising.

hello all,
my problem is with my toshiba satelitte l500 series which has been giving me greif for over 2 months. i was just about ready to pack up laptop & send away under extended warranty as per instructions but i gave it one more query on 'google' & amazingly your site came up with an option that i tried. the original person who wrote in about this problem had exactly the same settings that i had which in turn was responsibile for the 'problem' thanks to DMHolt57's answer to check screensaver settings, myself & others were able to reset setting & then as far as i'm concerned i can go away & have a quiet nervous breakdown. [joke]
