My main hard drive files suddenly inaccessible, can't believe..?!

Hello,

My main hard drive, a huge MyBook, suddenly got its single partition turned into RAW after a simple reboot..? Was working fine just before and always did. It's not even 1year old. Never had an issue with WD so i'm shocked.. Especially since plenty of files recent were not backed up ;( I also do not have another such large drive to recover..

That is, if i could..!! Cause starting recovery with ANY app (and believe me, i have them all) leads nowhere..? It loads forever.. I'm not sure it's really turned into RAW actually, since the app EVERYTHING, a greatNTFS indexing app, is trying to scan the actual partition..! I think it recall this drive sometimes was showing is showing partition RAW before unlocking it (it has encryption).

But now i disabled encryption (luckily, that's not dead) and restarted drive and.. still same : RAW and nothing possible with it. I wished it would finally "load" the partition after some time but it's getting long, seems like it won't? I haven't found somebody experiencing such online. And i don't know if you can "recover" a partition without formating..?

More : The disk appear to be EXTREMELY slow, that's the issue. It does prevent lots of apps to load it appears. If i start CHKDSK, it seems to hang forever. I guess that's not a good news?

I'm able to get TESTDISK to detect the partition (with its name) and list the files : they do seem to appear correctly (didn't check all though, it's 8TB..!!) so i guess that's a good news..?

I'm now, after documenting, hesitating to push the WRITE button. It has one chance out of two to succeed, isn't it? I mean, computer needs to reboot & do CHKDSK on said disk, if the latter can't go on..?

If its raw check disk won't work you need specific partition recovery software

Test the disk with WD Diagnostic. Extract and run.

Actually it did work.. I mean, start! Then freeze.. I had the idea from a YT video showing the same situation but he had more luck (as well as most people, seeing the comments) but not me. Hopefully, data recovery works. Still can't understand what happened.
