my mouse pointer freezes after not using it for 3 seconds

i have a voodoo KM-6510 mouse pointer , this mouse is a usb mouse , and cam with it a usb to PS/2 converter , while bluging it using the usb port , it works fine , but if i left the mouse for about 3 of 4 menuts , it fresses , and i have to wait about 5 secondes in order to make it work agine , and if i connected it using the ps/2 port , i have to restart my pc about 2 to 3 times in order to the pc descover the mouse , is there something wrong with my mouse , cos i just buyed it 2 wheaks ago , or from the ps/2 port , cos i was using it about 1 year with my old a4teach mouse ??

i sold it , at least i think i do , i downloaded "IPx86_1033_7.10.344.0" from microsoft , and chosed the mouse that suits my curent mouse , and it works fine now , thanks for nothing
