Hello,

I've a wireless AP, it gives me through dhcpd IP address and gateway.

However, I don't want to use the gateway provided by the AP, so I add on my windows 7 os, in the advanced settings for tcp/ip4 > default gateways , another one with value "1" as metric value.

Problem is:

When I do that my network it's displayed twice in my "currently connected to" list, as "AP-name" and "AP-name 2".
Is this normal, how may I fix this?

Everything else works as expected, my packets are routed through the gateway I've specified.

Thanks,
J.

Hi J and welcome

Both normal and expected. You added the second by adding the "1". If everything is working is there a problem other than the fact that it is annoying?

Hi Ken,

Thank you.

No, that's the only thing. It didn't seem right to have the network listed twice.

Reset your router, that will clear everything.

Reconfigure it to work for your needs.

Simple process..

Let me know if you have questions.

Hi,

Thanks. I was thinking too at this option.
I've checked that, but my AP router doesn't allow me to set custom gateway.

About the only thing I can think of to try is to change to a different channel on the router. If you are using 1, try the others, see which one gives you the strongest signal.
