My PC says "File is Corrupted" whenever I open a download .exe file!

Hello!

I have a problem today. I need it answered ASAP, please!

So I am doing a project for school and stuff...and I need to download this animation software called Pencil. Now, My PC has not been opening .exe files. So I'm screwed.

Let me explain.

Whenever I download a application file (.exe) and try to open it, this happens:


Now, it does this on EVERY .exe file I try to open. EVERY FILE.

If you know the solution, that would be great! Please tell me ASAP!

Try restoring the default action for .exe files: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/19449-default-file-type-associations-restore.html

Also try downloading the file while booted to Safe Mode with Networking. If that works then something is starting at boot that is causing the problem. Use Clean Boot to resolve:

Perform a clean startup to determine whether background programs are interfering

Some .exe files are self-extracting archives -- such that when you run them, they extract their component files. It looks like your PC is treating every .exe file like this, and the ones that are truly executables will fail in this. Restoring the default file action should fix this.
