My removable hard disk is now on local drive G and I cannot open it.

My removable hard disk hanged when I was copying stuffs into it so I did an end task to it to force shut it. The next time i plugged it in, it is no longer on my removable disk but appears on local drive G. I did a right click and browse files and it says I need to format my drive G before I can use it. There is still light and i still see it on devices but I am unable to open up anything. Please advise. Thank You.

Welcome to the forum. Can you post a screenshot from disk management showing all the details does it say it's raw ending task will have corrupted it

You peeps are amazing. Thanks all for the replies. I just realised I have no administrative rights because it is my work computer. However I have tried on my old PC which is a windows vista( I know the unstable one is still alive) and oddly did not allow command prompt to run chkdsk g:/f :( I'll be looking for the IT guy tomorrow.

The command isn't chkdsk g:/f. It has a space after g:.
It's chkdsk g: /f

Seagate. İt's actually a 320gb one so you can rougly guess how old it is and all the files i guess ive lost forever.. I did a force shut through task bar manager when it was taking a long time transferring files. really regret doing that.
