No question, I just gotta vent...

Downloaded SP1 via WU -- a grand total of 61.2mb.

The service pack downloaded fully but failed to install with error 80004005.
(I googled the error ... its been around for years, its cause is 'unspecified' & it's
cure is evasive.)

In addition, my SoftwareDistribution folder grew by 726mb
while C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportQueue swelled by 1.02Gb
in crash data.

(...off to restore a Macrium image I created just prior to this l'il fiasco.)

Thanks, done venting. :D

Your difficulties arent unique. SP-1 seems flawed atm. There is a pre download procedure, and often people have to re-install some of the earlier updates.

Same problem here. Nothing special running, even shut off AV. Downloads ok then fails install with error 80004005.
This is not a preliminary release but a standard notification from MS to download and install updates.
ZIGZAG mentions a pre-download procedure. Anyone know about/how to do this.

Many thanks folks
