G'Day, All -
Well, it would appear that I am in quite the quandry. Last night, my Linda Blair possessed, eight year old niece thought it would be reeeeaaaalllyyy, soooooo freakin' coool to see what type of irrepairable crap she could do to my machine. The PC isn't toast - far from it! It's just gonna take several hours to put it back where 'twas...
Okay - When I click on my START menu on the task barTHERE'S NOTHING THERE! Even on the R hand side. where it should say or read COMPUTER, MUSIC, NETWORK, et-cetera... Also, she was fu@$ing around with the colors you can specify to windows, icons, borders and so on. This seems like a real elementary fix, but Lilith 86'd my themes, screensavers, photograghs. She also set the font color to the same as the rear window color so I can't see a anything! DOes anyone out there have any suggestions or ideas you can throw my direction - Thank You,

First of all try a http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html.

I think this should set the background colour and personalisation back to normal but I've never been posed with this problem before.

If you find this impossible to do because of the text problem try booting in http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/69585-safe-mode.html.

If you need any help after this just ask.

Calm down. Your not gonna get anywhere when you're a huff. Take a few deep breathes, maybe get a warm cup of tea. If it can be broke, it can be fixed.

The obvious solution is a http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html. You might have to use method two of that tutorial. If you don't have an install or recovery disc, THIS will give you a ISO download you can use to make a recovery disc using ImgBurn. Keep in mind it is only for recovery options, not an install.

I would be admiring the understandings of an eight year old of how to berk your PC!! A future "hacker" in the making maybe??
It could be worse, I can re-set a PC, but half a pint of orange juice tipped over it??

My initial reaction would be to have a Tarantino moment, grab some pliers and....

But now I'm older, wiser and on medication, the above answers are probably far more sensible than mine!!

I'd password my bios. When I know my mischievous nephew is coming, I pull the power to the motherboard.

And remember to use WIN + L key combo to lock the keyboard anytime you walk away from the keyboard.

WIN key is the one with the wavy flag on it.
