Grabbed Win Server 2012 to try out on my machine. It currently has Win7 installed and Win Server 2008R2 that I tried out before I brought. Installed the server and all went well. However went to go back to Win7 and got a dreaded BSOD 1B just as the windows graphics started to fly out. No matter what this would not go away.

All good I though I will restore from my backup which is just 4 days old. This did the same even though it was booting fine when I made it. Re-installed Win7 and this worked fine. Booted from my backup recovery and did a simple file restore over the top of the install and same issue again.

Have not worked out why because the system was fine until the 2012 install. Only way round it was to start from a fresh install so now having to reinstall all those programs and remember where I tucked away all those install DVD's and they keys from the boxes.

Try wiping the HD using Diskpart Clean Command to clear all boot code before restoring the backup image.

If the problems persists then its a hardware problem. Test your hardware using Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7
