My version of Windows 7 won't update for me.

I need help updating it, I haven't updated Windows 7 in a while, but I have left Windows Update/wauserv running for 12 hours but it hasn't done anything but get stuck and hog computer resources. I tried fixing it by using the Windows Fix it tool, the Windows Update trouble shooter, and using SFC /scannow, help me?
