mysterious issue

I have a folder in documents/shared called startup2. It works exactly like all other folders.

However when I rename it to startup it acts strangely. Entering the folder in explorer it sometimes shows no files at all. Other times it shows all the files in all sub-folders and does not show the sub-folders. In addition the option to create a new folder in the right mouse menu is missing.

Have created folders called startup in other folders and they all work normally.

Easily solved by renaming the folder as anything except startup. But what the heck is going on here?

Naming folders/files "startup" isn't a good idea as there are OS system files with that name, below is the one that comes to mind, does it need to be named that?

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to understand, that using folder names similar or close to system folder names or Windows system variables is one the easiest ways to cause some serious pain to your rig.

To these names belong among others: Windows, Program Data, Program Files, System, Startup, Windir, Local, Roaming and so on.

reminds me of OS/2 and early Windows networking where you could not have .com extensions. But yes, good advice from Kari and why would anybody wish to duplicate Windows file names - esp. deliberately Lol.
