Solved mystery folder

Morning i have just been going through my computer files and folders.and i have come across one ,entitled searches,this is one the computer has made not me.
it has literaly hundreds of items in it.lots look like news headings/some are deleted items.some look like computer stuff with a DB(database) tagg .so i can;t delete them.others are empty folders and lots (when i open them up)have just a picture of a logo .ie.yahoo. but they all have a size on them like 250 bytes or 220kb.
are all these files taking room up on my hard drive .and if so how can i get rid of them safely. any help would be appreciated.

Seriously, you can use TreeSizeFree to see that actually next to no space is being taken.
