Solved Mystery Wifi Problem

Hi, this is the first time I've posted so ill try to make sure i put in all the relevant info.
I have a small home network consisting of several PCs and Laptops conected to the internet via a Thomson TG782T. Only one PC has an issue, and I can't work out what the problem is. The computer can connect to the wireless network, and get full bars, but will only dl at a max of about 40KB/sec and that quickly drops to about 3KB/sec and occasionally drops out. When it drops out, it'll pick the network back up, drop it agian and repeat ad nauseum.

I have checked the signal strength where it is and can get full speed on several other machines using the same adapter. I tried using a different known working adapter. I've swapped out the router for a spare I had that I know works (no ther PC or laptop has issue with either). I tried checking the settings, reinstalled drivers, updated them and even installed a new operating system (replaced Vista with Windows 7 Ultimate x64).
I'm at a loss as to what could be causing the problem. The two adapters I used are an ASUS WL-138-G and a D-Link DWA-510.

If anyone can help me it'd be much appreciated.

Sounds like the board is messed up somehow. Have you tried setting the bios to defaults then clearing the board of power by pushing the power button?

If you can post the ipconfig /all form the problem machine that might be helpful.

I tried setting the BIOS to defaults as you suggested, didn't help as far as I could tell. I agree that the problem might be the motherboard, as its about the only thing I haven't thoroughly checked. I *think* there may have been a PCI card die on that motherboard in the past, and I know that the PSU has needed to be replaced but i dont know how to check whether the main board is the culprit or not.

I'm going to replace the motherboard. I'll let you know how it works out.

The ipconfig /all for your wireless looks normal and should be working for you. Something else must be slowing down your connection or the eithernet adaptor on the board is messed up somehow.

I've installed the new motherboard, and its made things a little better, boosting download speeds up to about 1.3 Mbps, but I've discovered that if I remove the only PC connected via ethernet from the network, it'll download at full speed. I have no idea why this should be so, as none of the other wireless connections have an issue with it. At the very least the speed is up to slightly more tolerable levels, and I *think* I now know the cause, if not the reason. Ill keep working at it and ill let you know what happens.

Nevermind, it would seem that after a small while the network righted itself and is now working as intended. I reset the router and the affected PCs, and it all just suddenly worked. The new motherboard seems to have done the trick! Thanks for all your help.
