I know there are a few NASCAR fans out there. == I was disappointed with the Gen 6 cars. They didn't seem to have the power or draft to pass a lot. The COT was too much two-car drafting. The ones before the COT, I guess you call them the Gen 4 cars seemed to do a lot of drafting and passing on the last lap. Was anyone else disappointed with the Gen 6 cars?

In terms of looks, the Gen6 cars are great. In terms of racing, at Daytona at least, the racing was a complete P.O.S. I don't know if the drivers were scared or what, but Jr and Martin were the only ones that had the balls to do anything. I'll hold off until at least Las Vegas or Bristol to comment on racing, because maybe the drivers will be more used to the cars by then.

I see you are in Dallas. I am in Houston and have wanted to go to a race in Dallas. I guess you have been to some races there. How soon do you get to the track before the race so that the traffic isn't a problem?

You're gonna have to get there Thursday to completely avoid, but if you get there early Friday morning, you should miss most of the traffic.

I agree that the Gen 6 cars look great. I also have to agree that Daytona really lacked any action. I'm not quite sure what it was but they really didn't seem to want to pass. I will say that it was better than the two car tandems that we saw last year. At least these cars discourage that.

Well, Phoenix was better. It was a lot better racing action than Daytona, and very good for a usually boring track. Also helped that my favorite driver led a lot of laps (Jr) and my second favorite driver (Brad) finished fourth, and my favorite did well at a track he's not known for doing well at in his Hendrick era.

Before the season started, the announcers were really talking up how much effort went into the cars to make them good and a lot of other positive stuff. They just don't say anything now. I think NASCAR might have a problem. Isn't Las Vegas a 1.5 mile track? That will maybe give us some better racing since no restrictor plate and a bigger track. I hope anyway. == One thing that never ceases to amaze me are the wrecks. Danica's car was pretty much destroyed and she doesn't have a scratch. It is just amazing.

You not going to see much in the way of bump drafting at least until the drivers have some more time on the track. The cars have been totally redesigned and the front and rear bumpers no longer line up between every car like they did last year. So bump drafting has a greater chance of causing a crash. I also noticed that they made the roof/hood flaps alot larger this year. I'm waiting to see if they improve the Daytona fence for the July race.

I like the new cars. I really want to see how they are at Darlington and some short tracks where we can see how they hold up to some rubbing.

Help me out guys. What did Denny Hamlin say? The only thing I have read is that he said "the Gen 6 cars were not as good as previous ones" and that "the cars would race in single file most of the day". Was there more to this? He was just stating what is pretty much the obvious. I don't get the $25,000 fine.

He got fined for saying the Gen5 cars were better, easier to pass. His post race interview is what he got fined for... total BS IMO.

I think the France family must have told the Fox reporters to talk up how much passing there was today. The guys on Fox said several times how nobody could say the Gen 6 cars were not passing now. I didn't see it. There was a bit more than last week, but when a car gets ahead it just stays ahead. I truly thought that today might be a difference maker, but it seemed to be the same thing. Next week should be even less passing on a half-mile track.

I say if you can't pass, use your front bumper to get the guy in front of you loose and then pass him.
Don't wreck him, just rattle his cage.

I also think the fine was absurd.

These cars are a lot harder to pass with, in fact, it's too hard. The best car did not win today. Whenever Kasey got even close to Matt, his car would start to fall off. Basically, you get in front, and you will stay in front, which is not how it should be.

I 100% agree with you. We saw the same thing with the COTs. I really hope NASCAR does something about that, because we'll never see a good finish unless "Have at it boys" is used.

Well, time for Bristol, one of the best tracks Pre 2007. Hopefully, this new car brings back the late 90's, early 00's beating and banging. Should be a good week as both my drivers have won at Bristol and both are top five in points.
