Native Resolution Issue

The issue in question is this: I can't set the resolution to my LCD monitor's native resolution, which is 1680x1050 (22'' LCD monitor).

My PC specs are these:

- MS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
- Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.00GHz
- 8.0GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 398MHz
- Intel DP43TF (Motherboard)
- NVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT 1GB

I can't access any kind of NVIDIA control panel, or something of the like (it doesn't show anywhere when right-cliking on desktop).

When I try to update my GPU's drivers Windows tells me that I have the latest installed. I've also tried using PowerStrip, doesn't work either, specifically the custom resolution options.

The interesting part is that the resolution I'm currently using, which also happens to be the highest Windows' Control Panel seems to recognise for my monitor, is 1600x1200, which doesn't happen to be to far from my monitor's native resolution, actually, unless I'm mistaken, pixel by pixel 1600x1200 is a higher resolution than the native resolution of my monitor. All of these confuses me even more as to what causes these issue.

Bottom line, I've been pulling my hair out for two days now, I don't know what else to try, any help would be deeply appreciated.

SURE SR-L22W-02, still I don't see how knowing these shall help. I've tried the link you supplied, and apparently, it only works if you have your monitor set up with DVI or HDMI cables, I should've specified my connection was through VGA (HD15), thanks a lot however.

My monitor does have among its inputs, an HDMI input. And my video card an HDMI output, when I tried setting things up with HDMI, windows would set my resolution to 1920x1080, considerably beyond my monitors capabilities, yet it shows it, it looks disastrous certainly, but it shows.

Is there a way to force custom resolutions through VGA? Or to at least find a way for the NVIDIA Control Panel to show when right-clicking on desktop? Because the way I remember, you could create custom resolutions in the NVIDIA Control Panel, right?

It sounds like you are using Windows nVidia Generic drivers. Download the latest drivers direct from nVidia. Make sure your monitor drivers are installed. The monitor driver will tell windows your top resolution which will then be picked up by nVidias display driver.

Ughh, this is endless! I've installed the latest drivers form NVIDIA, as adviced, and although improvement was present, its certainly not acceptable.

I can now use the NVIDIA Control Panel, which is great, to create my custom resolution (1680x1050). Acording to said control panel, my drivers support the resolution I created, so they asked me to test it.

I did so, and it looked fine except the image doesn't quite fit on my screen, I've tried PowerStrip's image rescalling and resizing tools, to no results. I've tried my monitors auto-sizing option, it doesn't fix it either.

It's rather easy to notice the upper-most tab of WMP is not whitin range.

Your monitor should also have some Horizontal, Vertical & H-size(horizortal size) options as well as auto resize.
