I have a product called Parrot minikit smart for my car but it only works with Windows 7 32bit and the 2 laptops we have are both 64bit. Is there a way to get it to work on a 64bit PC or am I pretty much out of luck?

Yes when I plug in the item to the usb port it says it's not recognizable or something like that. I went to the manufacturers website and found that it says "Note : As the Parrot Software Update Tool is only available for Windows (32-bit)" of course there is no mention of this on the box.
For $25.00, you can get a 32 bit DVD and install it on one computer. You can call the computer manufacturer if it came preinstalled or MS if you bought the DVD.
ALL laptops and desktops now sold are 64 bit. I'm not sure what windows 7 computer they think their software is going to run on... I know first hand that geting your driver signed is a little bit of a PITA but come on... I don't let any manufacturer get away with that without a stern warning as a customer. They're just being lazy.

- for this application why not install a 32 bit Virtual machine on your laptop or whatever -- will save dual booting and you can shut down the VM when you have finished with the application.
This way you don't need to change anything on your current laptop.
Vmware vmplayer / vbox are FREE. Install either of these then build your 32 bit VM.
If these programs work on the older XP system you could download XP MODE from the MS site so you don't even have to build a VM --although for this your host laptop will have to be running W7 Professional as a minimum --home premium no good which is why I would suggest vmware or vbox.
You should if you have a retail version of W7 x-64 be able to get a w7 x-86 version for just the cost of the dvd - probably 5 USD or so directly from MS. Just say you need to install the 32 bit version of W7 to run legacy software that won't work on x-64.

Hmmm, what about XP Mode? It's free and 32 bit. Does Parrot minikit smart work under XP? If so you can install and run it there. Nice part is it's free.
