Need 32bit to 64bit Workaround

I have a developers disc for W7U 32bit that one of our developers got from the MS pre-release. I don't know why the developer's copy would be 32 and not 64. I just upgraded my whole system including a 64bit mobo & 8GB DDR so 32bit isn't going to cut it and I don't want to buy an upgrade just for that. One of the MS tech agents gave me a workaround from Digital River to burn a new 64bit disc but the link doesn't work as I probably mistyped as it was a very long URL given verbally. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hello saidas108, welcome to Seven Forums!

All you need is the 64-bit installation media/ISO, Windows 7 is version specific and not bit-rate specific but it is against forum rules to post download links to MS software, Google is your friend!

Did you receive a COA sticker with Product Key for that developer's pre-release version?

You want the Official Win7 ISO's, not sketchy torrents.

If your version isn't available unlock all versions to reinstall your licensed version with Product Key on COA sticker using this tool: Unlock any version eicfg removal tool

Other tips for getting a perfect reinstall based on hundreds done here: Reinstalling Windows 7

I assume it is authentic as it came right from MS from their developers W7 pre-release meeting. The sticker doesn't say COA but it's from MS. I'm a bit of a newbie so I'll have to go over your links carefully. At this point, this looks like just what I was searching for so a big thanks to you!!!!! You rock!

Does it have a Product Key? This is how Win7 is activated.

What does it say on the sticker?

Is it possible this is a beta release which has stretched its expiration?

Running the ei.cfg removal tool or deleting the Sources/ei.cfg file unlocks all versions in the ISO, so to me having 32/64 bit on same DVD is not worth all that trouble.

I only need 64-bit so do I understand you correctly that the step in my previous reply are what I need?

There's no reason to make a universal disk if you only need 64 bit - just download 64 bit for your version, or unlock all versions to use your licensed version.

What about these:

Go to your developers account with MS & download the 64bit ISO.

I don't have a developers account unfortunately just the developers disk.

Regarding using the eicfg_removal_utility.zip, I found this note: "Your disc still needs to be the same kernel as your key (i.e. 32 or 64-bit)." Doesn't this mean that my disc has to be 64-bit and this is just for choosing the version like Home/Professional/Ultimate? I just need the 64-bit version of the Ultimate disc I have.

The sticker is goldenrod color with the MS logo and key on it and looks like the other ones I have on other MS products. As far as being a beta release I don't know. The developer's pre-release was just a month or so before the public release.

Does it have a Product Key?

You'll need a 64 bit installer for your version.
