Need a second opinion on dying video card chip

I got a hand me down laptop around 2005 from my dad. Its a IBM thinkpad T40. It has the Radeon mobility 7500 chip in it.

I've keep this thing clean as a whistle, never had a virus or anything on it. Ran AVG and malawarebytes scans on it very regulary.

Recently it has just started shutting down/ restarting without any warning. When it comes back up it says the video card/ drivers stopped working. Checked my drivers and they are the latest.

Never droped this laptop or anything. So i'm thinking the video card chip is just old and has ran out of time. Just wanted a second opinion.

Does it do that when booted in safe mode (F8)? suspect a conflict before chip set

You can identify using msconfig if it doesnt act up in safe mode.

I actually havent tried booting in safe mode, let me try that real quick

Yes, it has rebooted 3 times even while in safe mode. And i used minimal settings

try getting an older driver it some times helps

Can you see if the inside is clean, possibly the chip is overheating, due to dust clogging the fans.

Tried an older driver, and the laptop barely had any dust in it. Still no luck

If it's rebooting in Safe Mode, it's not the driver, cos it uses microsofts standard VGA driver in safe mode. Sounds like overheating to me.
