Need Administrator Privileges

I'm using Windows 7 Professional. Occasionally I get a popup window that tells me to download a new version of my malware program and provides a link to do that. When I click on the link a dialog window pops up and tells me that I need administrative privileges to perform that action. I'm the only user of the computer and I am working with administrative privileges - at least the computer says I'm an administrator. The only way I've found to perform the action is to do it from safe mode. Do I have to disable UAC or is there a command I can use? There is no "Run as Administrator" in the context menu for this item.

Golden,
The program is Superantspyware. Whenever an upgrade is needed (engine or definitions) a window pops up from the taskbar with links to the upgrade. It's when I click on the link that I get the message. I really thought that if I were a user with administrative privileges I wouldn't have this problem. Unfortunately, all of the suggestions in the tutorial recommended by richc46 are for applications and don't work in this instance. And since there's I'm not trying to open an application there's no "Run as Administrator" in the context menu. There must be a solution besides using Safe Mode or turning off UAC which I haven't tried yet. Anybody?

Hello Aldago,

Try right clicking on the Superantispyware shortcut and clicking on Run as administrator first to run it elevated, then try to manually run it's update option.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

It's not a shortcut. It's a link and there's no context menu.

I will post a screen shot as soon as it happens again as it will when Superantispyware needs updating. I had AVG rescue disk handy and since it purports to do the same as emisoft I ran it with no evidence of malware. In case you're wondering, I did update the virus definitions.

This program must be somewhere in your list of software installed on your box.
That's what you need to run the way described.

This program usually resides in your tray.
Right-click it, end it, search the icon in your start menu, right click it there and choose to run it w/ admin rights.
