I just noticed this file and am completely mystified by it. It has no file extension and other than it's huge size file properties (screen shot below) gives me no information on it at all.

Has anyone encountered something like this, and would it be safe to just delete it?

Thanks in advance, John

Create a full backup with Acronis and move the file. Then if everything is alright after a restart and a few days, delete it altogether :p Dates on it are few months old anyway.

Perhaps it is a temp file that did not get deleted. See this post. Unfortunately, that post does not give any details on where these temp files are placed. Putting them in the Windows folder would seem odd.

Thanks GokAy, good procedural suggestions I'm starting a full disk image now.

And thanks UsernameIssues, that's an interesting post you referenced. I'll read it more in depth later after I get the disk image done and proceed with what GokAy suggested. I agree placement in the Windows directory is very mysterious, as is it's sheer size.

After I image, and more the file I'll post results here. Thanks again!
