Hi everyone From few months i hv been actively doing e-banking besides surfing the web randomly. My greatest concern rt now is Hacker who can get access to my bank account. my understanding is protection from hacker can be obtained from a firewall. I m using windows 7 firewall. i just heared windows 7 firewall is petty solid ( Dont know though). but the problem is i dont know how to opperete it fully. Rt now i just set it to public. It never asked anything like "allow" or " Deny". Is it working at all??? Do i need some third party firewall like comodo. here is my current security setting so that u guys can guide better..... OS : windows 7 64 bit (always up to date) Security : Avast free 5.0, MBAM (Free), SAS (Free), Spywareblaster(Free), Winpatrol plus. Windows defender is turned off. Browser : Firefox With add on like noscript, betterprivecy. Waiting ur kind advice.... With regards Gautam

IMHO, Windows Firewall is enough because of its simplicity and effectiveness.

If you really want to tighten your security, then go ahead. ;)

I would recommend installing KeyScrambler too. :D Click here for more information.

Are you behind a router with a hardware firewall? If not, I recommend you guy a router even if you only have one computer. A hardware firewall properly set up is far superior to any software firewall. I am behind a router; but I do run a software firewall to monitor outgoing connections. Windows Firewall will do this but setting up the rules is not easy nor intuitive.

you'd be better off with a keylogger protection....try any of these
zemana antilogger
spyshelter
prevx safeonline
Trusteer Rapport
the last three have a free version too

yup....a software firewall adds support to outbound connections...plus these days good firewalls have integrated HIPS adding more security

A chatty..pop up friendly firewall is not necessarily a good firewall...a firewall is just a layer of your security setup....win 7 is a good firewall
Windows 7 firewall...a good read
Windows 7 Firewall Control
...a better tool for win 7 FW configuration

Do i need some third party firewall like comodo.
if you so desire...

I'd suggest Keyscrambler. The free will work on IE and Firefox. I've been using it for quite some time, and in fact have the professional version I won in a giveaway, it protects a lot of programs. If you use the free, just do your banking with IE.

BTW, zemana antilogger won't work if you should have x64 version of Windows 7.
