Solved Need email program for Windows 7

Hi All,
1. I have searched and all posts that seem related give me outdated message.

2. I am lazy, have pc with XP and am used to it. This one is a Laptop running Win7 and it hasnt an email program as most people know... I have been reluctant to use the email as I messed up Window Mail for Win7 and have been using Gmail, but I cant get them to this laptop as no associations with .eml

3. What is a simple / easy email progam I can have on the laptop similar to Outlook Express that I can use ? please.

I am an older bird and after over 40 years in pc industry decided I would leave all the newer technologies to the young folk, and I would spend my time enjoying other areas rather than get up to date with current technology.... big mistake ... maybe.

I use free AOL since many years - completely hassle free and I can still find all my mails from years back at their server. They do a much better job managing that than I could ever do. Plus I can get at my mail from anywhere - e.g. my Android tablet.

I use thunderbird. it runs smoothly on windows 7 64bit. also any views on incredimail. good program what do you guys think. thanks and merry Christmas to all

Welcome to the forums JaninaG!

I've used Yahoo mail since ditching Gmail a couple of years back. Had yahoo before Gmail also. I DO NOT recommend it anymore and am looking myself for a new e-mail service. Been thinking of maybe trying Thunderbird, its just such a hassle changing everything. whs , thanks for the reference to AOL , they hadn't even crossed my mind. They were my "first" e-mail service...... maybe its time to check them out again.

pepsitrev, how was Thunderbird to set up? Never tried incredimail sorry.

SVEN1458 - Tried MS live mail and hated it, cant remember why .. maybe cause it confused me too much or it didnt have an Aussie dictionary, even had MS remote trying to get it to work. but crashed my pc, apparenly I got a semi french OS,... dont ask

WHS - where do you AOL, or do you need them as an ISP??? I was on of their many testers when they first started in OZ, but havent seen them around for years, but was nice, easy and compact.

PEPSITREV - Incredimail was good when I used it, forgot about that one, but too many ads on free version and doesnt work for me if I used adblocker.
Thunderbird - that sound like a go-er

INDIANACARNIE - I tried thunderbird and i like it simple, easy, after I found the save as, so tested it for 2 days and am very happy with it.

So thanks guys Really appreciate it, Didnt think of Thunderbird this time as a couple of years ago it just locked up my ram and was too bulky.

LOL, think the age might be a close race... My first PC was an IBM with on.y 40mg HD, and my first data entry machine at work was manual, with 12 round rubber keys 10,11, 12 & 0-9 no printing and had to manually insert the cards from right side and manually remove them from left and stack for the programmers.... fun, and believe it or not we could read all those little oblong holes without a fuss I am going to let you be older

You install AOL like any other application. You can also run it directly from any browser. Just bring up aol.com and go to the letter icon. It has nothing to do with your ISP.

When I started there were no HDs. All we had were tapes. RAM was a drum with 10.000 words. But my very first machine, a Zuse 11, was with paper tape input.

Those punches with the rubbery knobs were IBM 011's. We used to play reaction games with them.

Have to concede on this one, I remember the IBMs but guess we worked to hard to play, And we had a Honeywell which have a huge spool of tape like on cassette, but keying was weird had a switch to make it work and do different things and some really weird bits that I cant even remember, The "IBM" stuck in my mind cause it was so portable, just carried under arm and no power needed

And the Early Apple, with 2 floppies on for program and 1 for data and from memory that was easy to carry around and so light - no hard drive to give it weight. oh the good ole days
