Friend of mine's pc was infected by a malware. I have to reformat and reinstall win 7 on it. However, all the files on his external drive are marked as hidden and system files. Is there a good file utility program that I can set all the file as not hidden and non-system file?
Thanks.

How did these files get to the external drive. Is that an image?

The files are "regular" files. The external drive was connected to his PC when he got the malware. The malware marked all the files hidden/system/read only. When I connect the external drive to a Vista based PC, I can see the files fine. If I hooked the drive to a Win7 PC, I don't see anything. If I do a "dir /a" on a command windows, all the directories and files show up.

I would try a live Linux CD to copy them.
