Need help asap trying to install windows on a hardrive

Hello i am having issues installing windows on a gateway GT5622 it gets stuck on expanding i tried three cds and three different images. I also tried to reinstalled vista it can't seem to expand anything. I have also tried this with only one ram stick... nothing works am i missing a setting in the bios thats not allowing it to write to the disk?


I would like to install the image on the hardrive outside the pc with my laptop i have a dock and plenty of images just don't know how to put a new bootable copy of windows on the disk

and Partition Wizard if you want to wipe it clean with zeros - I do that takes a bit of time but worth it IMHO

I understand the directions however i have a question is there a way to install a fresh version of windows on a disk this is more of a clone of my laptop? What i am really looking for is a clean install of a windows os on a disk

You can try installing Windows on a drive in a different computer (ie, put a fresh drive in your laptop), then preforming a sysprep on that drive, then installing it into the problem computer. Do not activate the computer, and if possible skip the part where you enter a key. After you sysprep the drive and install it into the "host" computer, you can enter the key and activate it.

With any luck, the sysprep'd image will find the different hardware and install what is needed - then you install the drivers after the initial boot is done, just like you would on any standard installation.

There you go my friend heaps of ways to do it Personally I installed an SSD after prepping it on my main machine and installed straight from the CD. I now just use the old drive as an external or snatch data from it as I need it.

If you want help troubleshooting your Win7 install to the Gateway then where did you get Win7? Did you burn the ISO to DVD yourself? Try again using ImgBurn at 4x speed - it never fails.
