Need Help Bypassing UAC with No Admin Privledges

Hi, so I will give you a bit of back story so you know where I am coming from. My old roommate gave me a Toshiba Satellite laptop awhile ago, which he got from a family friend. It has been collectiong dust for awhile, and I lost touch with the roommate.

My problem: the original user had full Admin privileges on his account. He set UAC to the max. He had a password so I could not access the Admin account. I created a new account, but the UAC is denying my access to everything. I cannot install programs, defrag, do system restores or virtually anything else that would be helpful. When I try to do one of these things, the UAC prompts me to enter a password, but does not give me a space to do it.

I went into safemode and changed the password on that Admin account. So, I now have access to the two main accounts on the system, but still no admin privileges (even though the computer originally said that that account had admin abilities). Is there any way to get admin privileges back?

Any help would be very appreciated. Thank you! David

Hello Dr Haynes, and welcome to Seven Forums

I'm sorry, but we cannot help you to bypass the security or password of another user account. Especially since you are not the administrator.

The only thing I can suggest is to do a clean install of Windows to start fresh with what you wanted.

Hi Brink, I figured that would be the case. And, I'm guessing there is no way to restore the pc to its original state and wipe all the files without a Windows 7 install cd?

I created a new account

How? Creating user account requires administrator privileges, and if you were capable of doing that without using your friend's password, that means you have attained admin privileges somehow. Why not giving that new account admin privileges and use that?
