Need help geting 7 32bit running smooth

I will try to provide as much information as I am aware of.Here are the main problems.Believe I may have the 1st one fixed now though.
1:Screen shutsoff at random and has no sound when it happens.Laptop still runs,but screen doesn't comeback till I manualy shut the laptop down.When it happens my 2nd external moniter connected to the vga would do the same.I don't normaly use a 2nd screen,but was doing it just for this.
I had to uninstall/reinstall VGA and chipset like 5 times before it was sucessfull.
I believe that has solved the problem.Hasen't been happening since.

2:Can't shutdown or restart.Before I fixed my VGA and chipset driver issues,it would say logging off and shutting downing quick.But soon as it tried to shutdown the screen would shutoff,laptop still ran.would never power down and start back up.
Now when I do it it will freeze on logging off(loader icon stops moving).
Luckily since im running 32 bit.If I hold f8 and select disable driver certificate thing,it seems to shutdown and restart properly.I have to do it everytime on startup.So I believe this is my main issue now.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled windows 7 at least 5 times now.I wiped my HD absolutly clean everytime(kill disk).
All I currently have for programs is avast,comodo,& ghostbuster.All were downloaded off their offical site.Don't have anything else installed.
I ran check disk 2-3 times.Everytime,it shows 0 bad secters and 0 bad files.Volume is clean.
This may have been a nono,but I went on blackvipers site and set services to what he had checked as safe.I would like to stop whatever services or extras I don't essentialy need or care to use.I onley have 1gb of ram.
Would like to say thanks to all that try to help me out,& since im new here.How do I give others rep?
My computer skills id say im about a 4-5 out of 10.Im alright with average tasks and a few things a noob-average pc user wouldn't know how to do.But im no expert by a long shot lol.

I would suggest installing Windows 7 and installing NO drivers (other than what Windows installs) nor any programs. Make no changes (and yes, you'll find BV's site really isn't useful anymore with Windows 7 and as such is generally a no-no for almost all service changes), and see if the problem continues AT THAT POINT. No matter what happens as far as your findings at that point, please post them back - given the steps you've taken thus far, either something you're installing each time you rebuild is causing it, or you have hardware or heat issues. The only way to safely figure out which is to install with a Windows 7 installation or recovery disk and do nothing else, and see what happens.

I think I can reset the services to default,uninstall my programs,& I haven't installed any drivers outside of windows update service.I haven't installed every single update because im not going waste HD space on all those secuurity ones.I just install the latest security and delete the previous I had installed.

Funniest thing I've heard for a while... You need all of the security updates - each one is separate.

@greenwizard - You should not uninstall ANY security updates. Security updates are core Windows files, and when you uninstall them... You tamper with the Windows OS. This may be why you are getting these shutdown problems and things like that. DON'T DO THIS. Just install all the security updates from Windows Update. Now go ahead and re-install Windows 7. When the installation is finished and you are in the desktop, don't do anything. Just test to see if everything works alright. Report back here when you have done so.

Ok.What is bad signature in sector 0 on 80h in a HD?Something damaged?I get it after it finishes clearing out my HD on active kill disk.Could it be whats causing my screen to randomly shutoff?
And how can I fix/repair this"bad signature in sector 0 on 80h?
Edit:I been using the single pass that puts 0 in all.Im to impatient to wait 3hrs for the 3 pass(usod I think its called).

Between removing security updates and messing with services, I am not the least bit surprised you are having stability issues. I feel like a broken record, but that disabling services myth was debunked 5-7 years ago. Leave them alone. As for security updates, there is never a reason to unistall one, unless one is causing a specific problem with your system.

Do a clean install, after testing out your hard drive with it's manufacturer's diag tool, and then install Windows 7 the normal, accepted way, following good practices. Install drivers, then updates, then software....and leave it alone!

My HD is toshiba,they don't seem to have one.At least for what I searched through.
Does toshiba have one?If not what is the best diag tool that has a good chance being compatible with my toshiba?Its a 80gb sata 5,400rpm.

After you have it open type in

 chkdsk /f

hit enter. Select "Y" and enter, then close.
Reboot and let this run. May help if you have some bad sectors.

this symptom reminds me of TDSS virus.

just to be sure scan with http://support.kaspersky.com/downloads/utils/tdsskiller.zip

even tought you said you did clean install (that should have cleaned viruses)
but maybe you did it wrong.. do it with windows dvd select custom instal, at disk menu select advanced, delete all partitions and create new, format it (ofcourse dont forget that will wipe all your data so make a copy somewhere)
and please dont remove updates all updates that windows update dowloads is necessary for windows let windows update handle what is needed.

i guess you use some kind boot cd or something with tools like kill disk etc.. i dont recomend it if youre not advanced user and dont know what are you doing because you can mess up things more than fix them.
to check toshiba disk please use toshiba tools or windows tools. (if there is no offered by toshiba)
