no worries lol, lm guilty of that myself sometimes
however CCCP does have that option but its not pre-selected, up till the above issue l never really had any issues with it.. chances are at the moment tho it was graphics related which seems kinda strange wont know until lve given my system time for the problem to happen again.. but l wont knock the fix if it works.. tho l admit l should keep some drivers up to date guess the last time l updated put me off...
had nothing but driver problems originally annoyingly tho my monitor isnt on the screen res l used to use for some reason was on 1300*something but l havent lost too much as lve managed to click up to 1280*960 (if memory serves) before l get unsupported messages.. the only annoyance being that l have to reboot to go back or at least thats what happened once or twice.

sorry for the double post.. however it looks like my system freezing problem isnt fixed.
however l have made a sort of breakthrough.
usually the problem happens after a reboot.. or at least thats what l thought, however l guess in retrospect it could be related to certain files.. l opened a mkv file 12 hours or so after reboot and got a system freeze, so l decided to do a test seeing as l remembered the first file l opened which had no issues when l assumed l had fixed.
now heres what l found.. the file that caused my system freeze before reboot caused a system freeze after reboot, now heres where it gets weird it was the second mkv file l opened.. you see l remembered the first file l tested yesterday which l tested first. so this means l can consistently recreate the problem so it might be a codec issue which causes my system to freeze for a few seconds.. l am however speculating here.
anyone know any good programs l could use to test the differences between the files? the media info on media player classic shows differences between the files but lm not up on reading what it means. so my guess is it might be codec related seeing as now lve found l can create the issue consistently.

Do you have access to Avidemux, MKVToolnix or VLC?
You could use:
MKVToolNix (specifically mkvmerge) to remux a copy of the problem file.
Avidemux or VLC to re-encode a copy of the problem file.
Another thing you could try, is to power down your system for a few minutes and then restart it and see if the problem occurs.
Some hardware problems aren't cured by reboots.
Sometimes you have to power down the PC for a few minutes.

just had a strange issue, was watching something and winsat.exe disabled Aero features and was running like 40/50% of my cpu until reboot.
just disabled it and l havent and the file l was having freezes on consistently in the last couple of reboots doesnt seem to be causing an issue at the second. any ideas?

l didnt set it to run manually but it was set to run, at some point today.
that being said, the file l got consistent problems on that l found amongst other files didnt freeze this time even tho l consistently had the issue before. tho before reboot aero features disabled and as l said it was maxing my cpu.

You don't need winsat set to run at any time. However if you add/change your hardware w7 may ask you to rerun the assessment when you view the Performance Information and Tools window.

still getting this issue every now and then.. doesnt seem to happen when lm keeping an eye on task manager which is annoying.. however whenever it does (and lve forgot to open task manager up) lve noticed that l catch the tail end of ccc.exe running at 50% as far as lm aware its the catalyst control centre, and to my knowledge when lve been watching task manager (when it doesnt seem to happen) l dont see ccc.exe max my cpu in any way. its kinda strange but so far all lve been able to come up with considering when l watch task manager it doesnt happen so lve only caught the tail end of possible processes.

lve disabled the windows rating service as my issue seemed to happen pretty much every reboot with it turned on.. however then compared to now its gotten pretty intermittent.

just thought l would share an update, l disabled ccc.exe (Catalyst control centre) which also disabled mom.exe and its been a couple weeks now and the issue l originally had hasnt reoccurred since, hoping l found the culprit, tho last time l said that it started again after a third reboot, however lve rebooted a few more times this time.
