Hi there,

I'm Rob, I'm having some issues with Java updating...

My computer is a Sony Vaio VPCF232FX/B running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

I mostly use Mozilla Firefox, but lately Mozilla seems to be having issues so I've been bouncing between Comodo Ice Dragon, and Google Chrome.

Most recently I was given the opportunity for a great job, but to get it I have to do several skill tests that require Java and QuickTime 7.6

Problem is I can't get either of these programs to download and install, or update. It's becoming quite frustrating, and I'm on the verge of pulling all of my personal files off the pc, and factory resetting to 2012.

I've tried reinstalling Mozilla to see if that's the issue (This took some work because even it wasn't wanting to reinstall.. I had to go through CNet to get it..)

As for Java, the only version I can get to install is Version 7 build 79. If I try to get any other the install completely fails. I've uninstalled Java twice completely using JavaRA, and tried reinstalling it via JavaRA, Java's website directly, and now through another thread on this forum(http://www.sevenforums.com/software/188392-java-update-failed.html) tried File Hippo and NOTHING is working...

There's even mention of a 'Windows 7 repair tool' on that thread in the tips at the bottom of a thread, and I don't know if it's legit or not, but I tried that, and it won't work!

I had to go to CNet just to get Java 7.79 back...

This is costing me a great job while I'm currently unemployed, so any help would be greatly appreciated as quickly as possible...

Thank you!

Rob

1. Did you download from here?
https://java.com/en/download/

2. JavaRA doesn't work. I tried it in July 2014 to remove Java. It said it did but it did not.So I ran Revo Uninstaller. I had 2,230 registry entries to look through and select for removal. After i did that, the icon still remained in the Control Panel.
I found out is is JAVACPL.CPL and was located in C:\Windows\system32
(My desktop computer is running a 32 bit version of Windows). If you are running a 64 bit version of Java, Revo free will not see it.
You can try another uninstaller like this
Download GeekUninstaller - MajorGeeks

Yes I was going directly through Java's website...

Small update: A friend suggested Safe Mode, so I tried that, and got it to download, then restarted in normal mode got it to install FINALLY....

But should I be concerned that it took that much effort for a simple update?
