Okay I have a samsung laptop RV411.
So i closed the cover, and then opened it for transfer. However, I did not shut it down. So when I opened it, it turned black and it turned BSOD. It says KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR. So I restarted my PC. Now, I cant get out of the POST. There is 2 available options F2 for setup and F4 for recovery. I pressed both and it went Please Wait... Forever! I used the recovery disk no luck. need help!

You should use your installation disk not your recovery disk for this. I would recommend following the instructions in the tutorial mentioned in my earlier post if you are unsure of how to carry this out.

I tried to insert my Recovery Disk. Nothing happened.

Insert the recovery disk, reboot, then keep tapping F12 right from the boot till you see the one time boot menu. On that list select the CD drive. You should now be able to boot from the recovery disk.

BTW, did samsung provide this recovery disk or you made it yourself?

You need to keep tapping F12 repeatedly right from the start, its a bit tricky. Dont stop till you see the boot menu.

If it still doesnt work, tap F2 repeatedly to get into the bios and change the boot priority so the CD drive is first. Press F10 to save the changes and exit.

I cant get to F2 (BIOS). It says Please Wait... forever.

OK, keep tapping F8 repeatedly at boot till you see the advanced boot menu. Select "Repair my computer", navigate to the command prompt.

Type chkdsk c: /R then hit Enter.

Let the chkdsk complete, reboot.

Even if you get it to boot from the DVD drive, you still need a proper 32 /64 bit installation disc to carry out a "repair install". You will need to obtain one of those before proceeding. OEM's recovery disk cannot be used for repair install

OK, lets try different approaches.

1) It could be a boot sector virus. Try the kaspersky rescue cd.

Download FREE Bootable Rescue CDs from Kaspersky, BitDefender, Avira, F-Secure and Others - Tweaking with Vishal

The only issue is whether the computer will be able to boot from the cd.

2) Possible RAM error. Try swapping out the RAM sticks- that is change their respective slots or take out all but one stick, then try reboot.

3) Possible bad hard drive. I dont know what brand hard drive you have but you can download the specific diagnostic and run it.

HD Diagnostic

Edit: See if you can boot from a bootable usb stick (or a linux live cd). Heres how to make one (method 2):

If you can, navigate to the folder c:\windows\minidump and copy any .dmp files in it, upload them here.

Well, if you've tried out all the things I suggested and its still no go, then there are 2 more things I can think of:

1) Take out the hard drive from the laptop. Now try to boot from the cd rom using any bootable disk available. If that doesnt work, try with an external dvd drive.

2) Hook up the hard drive to another computer, then run chkdsk and drive diagnostics to determine whether its good.

Hi Bill2
One more thing the OP could try:
1) Remove Power cable.
2) Remove Battery.
3) Than hold down Power button for 30 Sec's
4) Refit all.

Sure, Ray. I'm mystified why the OP's not able to boot from dvd etc.
