Need help on specific windows 7 issues! I'm behind in times...

I'm new to the forum, my Name is Jason and I'm in Minnesota. I used to know quite a deal about computers, software etc... due to my MicroComputer Tech Degree but....That was years ago and the last operating system that I was actually taught on was XP and even then it was a little touch and go. I finally decided to get back into pc stuff so I could do my own systems at home. I just recently bought a hp laptop I got a good deal on and it came preinstalled with 7 and I am finding out...I am way behind in OS cause it's all changed. I have Vista on my home desk top that I have had for years, I hated Viata from the very first boot and decided never to familiarize myself with it, and feel the same way now. But for anyone that is willing to help me I would like to know where I should post threads on specific things I need advice on with Windows 7. Thank you!

Thank you both. Trust me I have done A LOT of reading over the last three weeks, feels like I'm back in school! I guess the number one problem I have is...MS website will only tell you what they want you to know, and if it isn't thier way then it's just going to happen, hence the second problem with searching the web for information, everyone has what I'm calling a opinion (because most "answers" to peoples question seem more like a personal who's better than whom battle) and for the last three weeks by far this site has been the most helpful and organized by far! So thank you for that. I guess my first and foremost question to start out is I fired up this laptop running 7 and have other user accounts I need to implement on it, so what catagory would I post questions reguarding the local security group policy editor, I'm ultimantly after picking and choosing what a user can and can't do on a one by one check list or as close to it as possible. And I guess that would bring me right into a "sharing" question about what is and isn't shared and the correct locations of where folders should or sholdn't be to either be shared or not and then granting who can and cannot see them. (Would also need the same sort of reference for a home network I am trying to set up. The host machine however is running Vista home premium which I absolutly hate!) thank you.
