Solved Need help picking out a SSD from Newegg

I've been wanting to try my first SSD and have been looking at this one. Newegg.com - Intel 335 Series SSDSC2CT080A4K5 2.5" 80GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) This is my motherboard GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1156 - GA-P55M-UD2 (rev. 1.0) Would these be compatible and a good choice? or does Newegg maybe, have a better drive for about the same money? My pc has about 40GB on it and I have another tower I use to do my dvd burning on. All advice will be appreciated Thanks!

It kind of looks like Greek to me but, I'm going to keep reading I'm used to just using my entire hard drive as one large partition. I've never tried creating separate partitions. Thanks Again!

Hi there
You can't go wrong with the Samsung 840 series - the 256 GB version doesn't actually cost much more than the 120 GB one and it might be handier if you run things like Virtual machines too.

With the samsung's you get a USB==>SATA adapter too so you can use these as external disks --handy to copy your OS to before you remove the old HDD (laptop).

I have a portable 500GB usb drive that I keep a backup image of both my pc towers on could that be used to install to the ssd? Thanks!

After doing some reading, I might be better off to just do a fresh install from my universal disc I have and backup my photos and other important files on a couple usb drives I have.

Fresh install is always a good option and even though it takes time.....it take much less time with the SSD.....so much less that it's a joy to do and marvel (pun intended) at how much time you're saving ! Even the updates roll off faster !
