I have Windows 7 Professional on a Dell Alienware laptop. Everything is up to date.
Recently I purchased Fallout 3 from Steam. The game had been patched but with that patch meant it was unable to run with 4 cores and what id did was cause the game to freeze. So I went online and found help they had me change in the Fallout.ini the line 'bUseThreadedAI=0' to 'bUseThreadedAI=1' and add a line under it 'iNumHWThreads=2' This limited the game to 2 cores and prevented the engine bug from causing the game to freeze.
Fallout worked like a charm.
Then I went back to wanting to play other games, all of which I found were lagging.
What I did was change something in my computer registry that limits my laptop to two cores while still trying to run with 4 threads. I went and changed the .ini file back to no avail.
How do I change this back?
I called everyone from Microsoft to Alienware to Bethesda and found no help!
