Hi there,
I am maintaining a windows 7 workgroup of around 50 PC's (in one room, and multiple rooms like this) in an educational institute. All hardware platforms are identical. No server. all in one workgroup
Required Task: To install Window 7 with all required software and customizations like Group policies for one account on all PC's. All PC's in Workgroup and not part of a domain.
I have made one workstation ready with all required customization and drivers etc. Now need to deploy exact same setup to all others workstations.
I learnt about SID duplication, other duplication/complications when using plain cloning of such installation. So decided to use sysprep /generalize. But I am facing problems and need help.
My READY reference computer has following:
When reference computer is imaged and deployed on others workstations I want to be able to the following:
Now the problem is when I sysprep /generalize my reference computer, many things are cleaned and on next reboot it comes to a place like a new installation. I have to provide new user accounts with all previous configurations and group policies lost.
Please guide how do I achieve this with minimum required after-works when the image deployed on other workstations
Waiting for response

My READY reference computer has following:
- Windows 7 x86 installed and licensed
- Two user account: Admin level and a Standard user account
- All hardware specific drivers installed and configured. (chipset, graphics, audio)
- Standard user account has customized desktop background, theme, screen saver, a few restrictions with local group policy
- Admin level account also has few customization like desktop background etc.
- All required software is installed, registered where required, customized.
When reference computer is imaged and deployed on others workstations I want to be able to the following:
- Must have uniqueness wherever required like Unique SIDs etc on a networked environment (may join a domain at later stage but not now)
- User accounts must retain all their configurations and group policies etc set just like my reference computer.
- All hardware drivers must be there. should not need to re-install on first run.
- All installed software must be available as on reference computer, registered and customized
